The Mugello Circuit

Mugello is known worldwide for motorcycle and car racing at the homonymous Racetrack.

The Mugello Circuit is owned by Ferrari and is used throughout the year to conduct its tests. However, it is better known internationally as one of the pivotal stops on the motorcycle racing calendar, including the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 championships. Built in 1974, the Mugello Circuit is famous for its challenging hairpin turns and its geographical location makes it a very important stop in the racing world.

The Mugello Circuit is one of the most popular circuits for drivers and fans alike. It is renowned for offering exciting competition thanks to its "high-paced" turns and the challenges it presents to drivers, making racing at Mugello a highly anticipated and popular event among motorsport enthusiasts around the world.

The Mugello racetrack is world-famous for the Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix: the first edition was hosted in 1976, which was then followed by those of 1978 and 1985, until stabilizing since 1994 on the Tuscan circuit for all the remaining ones.

Over the years, this circuit has given memorable moments, especially to our Italian riders, although in recent years some Spanish riders have also made their mark.

Let's start with the legendary Valentino Rossi, a nine-time world champion who has always attracted thousands of fans flocking to Tuscany from the early hours of the morning to see him on the track. His successful history sees a 125cc victory in 1997, another in 250cc in 1999 and seven consecutive wins in the premier class from 2002 to 2008, setting an impressive record. With nine total wins and five podiums, Rossi holds the record for victories at the Mugello circuit.

Among the Italians who have triumphed at Mugello, mention should also be made of Max Biaggi, who won three times in a row in the 250 cc class (1995-1996 with Aprilia and 1997 with Honda).

A historic moment for Italian motorcycling was the June 1, 2008 Grand Prix, in which Simone Corsi won in 125 cc, Marco Simoncelli in 250 cc and Valentino Rossi in 500 cc, and the Italian anthem resounded three times. This was not the only Italian triplet, with similar cases in 2002 and 2003. In 2017, another tricolor hat trick was achieved by Andrea Migno, Mattia Pasini and Andrea Dovizioso.

However, since 2012, with the separation between the Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP classes, Italian victories have decreased.

With the passing of time, victories in the MotoGP category have been dominated by Spanish pilots, in particular by Jorge Lorenzo, winner at Mugello seven times.

Who will be the winner of the next edition of the Grand Prix? Maybe another Italian!

Shopping at the Barberino Outlet

And for those who are not a sports lover but rather a shopaholic, one cannot miss a stop at the Barberino Designer Outlet in Barberino di Mugello, about 30 km from Florence. Part of the McArthurGlen group and with more than 100 stores of major Italian and international fashion brands, this Outlet is easily accessible by car or bus.

The Barberino Designer Outlet complex is a kind of shopping village, located in a suburban area and consisting of many small houses side by side that house the various stores. Among the advantages of this outlet is the possibility of finding a wide variety of big brand stores in a relatively " reduced" space. Among the brands featured are Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Cavalli, Patrizia Pepe, Micheal Kors, Pinko, Furla, Guess, Twin Set, Desigual, Hugo Boss, Nike, and Adidas, just to name a few of the most popular.

Stores promise discounts ranging from 30% to 70% off sale prices, and there are often additional special promotions that make shopping even more convenient.

After an intense shopping session, hunger will start to bite: you can stop at one of the various restaurants and bars within the mall, and you'll find options ranging from pizza and traditional Tuscan dishes to Asian cuisine for more adventurous palates. For chocolate lovers, we recommend a visit to the Lindt store.

If you're visiting the Outlet with your children, you should know that there is also a play area equipped for the little ones (ages 3 and older) where they can have fun in between your purchases.
